Greetings you golden gods, the last giveaway was a YA memoir by Walela Nehanda and this time I am fortunate to offer a giveaway for Something's Wrong with Micah, a YA novel by Jamison Hill. Jamison is a great writer. One of my favorite pieces by him is "Love Means Never Having To Say....Anything" in NYT's Modern Love column. And be sure to check out his memoir When Force Meets Fate. Details below.

ABOUT THE BOOK

In the wake of a devastating car accident, sixteen-year-old Micah Hunter’s world begins to unravel. A mysterious illness leaves him unable to pursue the football dreams that he once shared with his father. At the peak of his illness, Micah bumps his wheelchair into Evie Thompson, a headstrong fifteen-year-old living with her own challenges. Coming of age and coming to terms with their disabilities, Micah and Evie find solace and companionship in each other.
As their connection deepens, Evie helps Micah discover the truth about his illness, allowing him to reconnect with his past. But, in doing so, Micah fails to discover Evie’s deteriorating health, which she keeps hidden. When Micah finally realizes the gravity of her situation, he must make the most difficult decision of his life: get Evie the help she needs or respect her wishes and risk losing her forever.

STATEMENT BY THE AUTHOR

I’ve spent the last decade looking for answers - navigating hospitals and doctor’s offices, figuring out how to live with the uncertainty of having an invisible illness that nobody seems to understand. While I’ve found some answers, I’ve lost many parts of myself along the way. I’ve had to give up my job, my autonomy, and almost all of my aspirations. But there’s one thing I haven’t lost: my story.
I’ve managed to tell my story through essays in The New York TimesThe Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, and others. But my dream has always been to write a book about my battle with chronic illness. Now, after years of searching for a publisher, I have the opportunity to share my memoir.
